以下、主催者 綾香詳三氏 よりのご案内です。
今回は清掃員画家ガタロさんをモデルにして、作品を作っております。
簡単に紹介致します。
ガタロさんとは、今現在まで30年、広島の商店街で清掃員をしながら自分の清掃道具や商店街のホームレス、原爆ドームなどを描き続けてきた方です。
ゴミ置き場の番人であるガタロさんの所にはいろんな物が捨てられていきます。生活ゴミはもとより、売れ残りのパンや柄の折れた新品のモップ、ラブレターや生きた猫、終いにはホームレスのおっちゃんまで…。
分別不可能な打ち捨てられし『物』たちをガタロさんは絵に描くことでその尊厳を守ろうとしています。社会を見つめる掃除屋としての目、画家としての眼差しはとても厳しいものです。だけど実際にお会いしてお話を聞くととても懐が深く温かで少年のようなキラキラとした瞳に思わず見とれてしまいます。
ガタロのアトリエ少年画廊をすみかとする道具たちは今宵どんな宴を繰り広げるのか・・・。
ガタロさんとの出会いに感謝を込めて
ガタロさんのことは、2013年8月にＮＨＫで放送されたドキュメンタリー番組を見て知りました。その当時の私は32歳で、ある劇団での活動を中心に役者として舞台に立つ日々を送っておりました。こう書くとかっこよく聞こえますが、実際はアルバイトで生計を立て、生活費をやりくりして、あまったお金で活動しておりました。30歳をひとつの節目となる年齢だと考えていた私は、目立った実績もなく、将来の展望すら開けていない状況にひどく焦りを感じておりました。何よりも自分自身を地に足が付いていない根無し草のようなふがいない人間だと考えておりました。そんな時期にガタロさんの番組と出会ったのです。放送が始まってすぐに引き込まれた私は、途中にもかかわらず、番組を録画しました。画面の向こうにいるガタロさんは、少年のようなキラキラした瞳の持ち主で、少し遠慮気味に自身のことを語る様子から、『痛み』を乗り越えた優しさを感じました。生まれつき体が弱かったことが原因で友人や仕事を失い、孤独だった青春時代。清掃の仕事に誇りが持てず、他者に対する敵意を隠せなかった30代40代。いじけた自分に優しい声をかけ、励ましてくれた名もない街の人々のこと。広島の象徴で、大海原へ絶えず流れ続ける川のこと。そして、どんなときも自身と共に仕事をしてくれた道具たちのこと。それらのことが番組で紹介され語られていくうちに、未来を照らす光を見つけた気がしました。私もガタロさんのように自分の足で歩かなければと強く思った私は、アルバイトで貯めたお金を元手に自主企画公演をやることに決めました。誰かに守られた傘の下では自身の表現は見つけられないし、抱いている不安は取り除けないと気付いたからです。今回で3回目となる自主企画公演はガタロさんへのオマージュとして上演したいと考えております。

Today, I went to the beach with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She put the shell to her ear and screamed.
